Teen Maker Club Workshop, 10/24/13

We had our first session of the Urban Armor Maker Club for teens last Thursday! I had been envisioning this drop-in program as a combination of open studio and workshop experiences where we would offer both art and tech materials. I gave the kids a series of challenges for that night involving LEDs: making them light up using different conductive materials; creating switches; and finally, to incorporate them into a work of art. We had ten students participate, and their interests varied: some were into art, some were into science; there were also a few kids who participate in the FIRST Robotics League (three teens are also Teen Advisory Council applicants!). Their creations ended up being really varied, unique, and interesting. If you’re interested, there are several images from the class posted on Flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/centerforcreativeconnections/sets/72157637017082826/
